Manufacturing Process Flow
How wire rod becomes finished coil at Indisteel — the stations on the line, the four product routes through them, and what is checked at each step.
Which Route Does Your Wire Take?
Read each coloured line left to right. A ring marks a station the route passes through; a cross marks one it skips. Every route starts with a lot number at rod receipt and ends with a test certificate at packing.
Pickled, phosphated and hard drawn to size without annealing — for nails, wire forms, rivets and general engineering.
Pickled, phosphated and drawn — the standard route for MS and low-alloy fastener wire.
Rod pickled and spheroidize annealed, supplied as soft annealed coil.
Annealed, then pickled, phosphated and drawn to finished size — the full fastener-grade route.
Rod to Finished Coil
What happens at each station, and the record that is created there.
- STEP 01
Wire Rod Receipt
CHQ and drawing-quality rod from JSW, Tata Steel, JSPL, Bhushan Steel and RINL (Vizag Steel). Heat number, grade and size recorded against a unique lot number; incoming inspection covers chemistry, hardness, tensile and microstructure.
- STEP 02
Pickling
Acid pickling removes mill scale and prepares the surface for coating. Rinsed and neutralised before the next step.
- STEP 03
Phosphating
Zinc phosphate coating with a lubricant carrier. Coating weight is tested in the laboratory.
- STEP 04
Annealing
Spheroidize or process annealing in SCADA-controlled bell-type furnaces under nitrogen atmosphere with vacuum purge. Cycle logged per charge; charge numbers recorded on every coil.
- STEP 05
Wire Drawing
Drawing to finished size on ASSOMAC inverted vertical drawing (IVD) machines. Size checked at start-up and during the run.
- STEP 06
Inspection and MTC
Final inspection of size, hardness, tensile, surface and microstructure. A material test certificate is issued for every lot.
- STEP 07
Packing and Dispatch
Coils strapped with steel wire and packed to the customer's requirement, tagged with lot, coil and grade, and dispatched with the MTC and delivery challan.
One Number, Whole History
Rod heat → lot number → coil number → furnace charge number → finished product tag. Each hand-over between stations is recorded in our production traceability system, and the printed tag on the coil carries a QR code that pulls up that record.
Ready for Your Crane
| Coil weight | Set to your machine payoff — typically 500 kg to 1,000 kg, other weights on request |
| Strapping | Bundles strapped with steel wire at multiple points; coils compacted for safe handling |
| Protection | HDPE / woven wrap on request |
| Tagging | Printed tag with lot, coil, heat, grade, size, condition, weight and QR code |
| Documents | Material test certificate, delivery challan and e-way bill with every dispatch |
| Transport | Dispatch by road across Haryana, Delhi NCR, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh |
Not Sure Which Route Your Part Needs?
Send the drawing or the property class — we will recommend the grade, condition and route, and quote it.
